Brotherwood – Family matters!
A Story Carved In Wood
Thessaloniki, 1948. In a city and a time when the authentic, the handmade and the attentive have the first place in the creative setting, Konstantinos Vassiliadis transforms his love for the wood into inspired furniture. After several years, his son John continues with the same appetite and passion, further strengthening the roots of the family business. And in 2004 – thanks to the love and response of the world – the small craft unit becomes a modern workshop.
Sizes may have changed, but in the core there was a strong and strong love for the aesthetics and art of wood. A love passed to every creation, but also to the next generation of the Vassiliadis family. Kostas and Nikos, since childhood lived, felt, and listened to the pulse of the art of their father and grandfather. The aromas of freshly cut wood, the ebony, beech, walnut, rosewood and tens of other types of wood, converted from solid blocks into refined pieces for tasteful interiors.
After a while, a new circle opened. Its name, is Brotherwood. Bow ties, jewelry and other premium accessories, all of them with wood as their basic material, complemented by resin, cloth, Swarovski stones – or whatever else is needed to make each piece unique. Because in order for the two brothers to carry the third generation of Vassiliadis family towards an aspiring future, they needed -besides the 7 decades of family tradition- a new, modern look and approach. This circle surrounds and preserves the classical value of wood and the quality of its processing, while introducing a fresh, innovative approach -in application, color, shape, use. Or, as Nikos says:
“From the block of wood, the pattern, the polishing, to the final control, it does not just take time and effort. The gradual transformation of wood is a magical process, but no spell or filter is involved – except for the beeswax of our own production that I use in waxing. It is a result where the eye, the hand and the mind coexist with perseverance and knowledge. The stubborn character of the olive tree, the imposing ebony profile, the finesse of the rose, not only imply the personality of each wood, but also your creative approach. Wood is not just an object to us, but it has earned a right place in our own home. And now, it can win a place in the wardrobe or the accessory case of everyone…”
