A few words about our journey through time…

The circles on the trunk of a tree represent its life and growth time. In our own family tree, we count 80 years of creation.
At the same time, our own development went through many stages to reach Brotherwood today. We are the third generation of people trying to tame wood. Always guided by the experience of the previous generations, we move forward into the future.
A new cycle of inspiration, a cycle of creation. At its heart are the authentic, handmade creations.
The wood is always here, we just add new materials like resin (or liquid glass) to it so the result is always unique!

Thessaloniki, 1948. In a city and a time where the authentic, the handmade and the refined have the first place in the creative scene, Konstantinos Vassiliadis makes his love for wood inspired furniture. After several years, his son Ioannis takes over the baton and continues with the same enthusiasm and passion, strengthening even more the roots of the family business. A company, which in 2004 – and thanks to the love and response of the people – leaves the framework of the craft unit, which is replaced by a state-of-the-art workshop.

A love that was passed on to every creation, but also to the next generation of the Vassiliadis family. Kostas and Nikos, from young children, lived, felt and listened to the pulse of their father’s and grandfather’s art. The aromas of freshly grated olive wood, the hands that transformed sturdy volumes into refined pieces for homes with taste.

And just like that, a new circle was opened. And the name of it, Brotherwood. Bow ties, jewelry and other premium accessories, all of them with wood as the basic material, framed by resin, fabric, Swarovski stones -or whatever else is needed to highlight each piece. In order for the two brothers to succeed in bringing the third generation of Vassiliadis family with ambitions for the future, apart from the legacy of 8 decades of family involvement with the subject, they need a new, modern look and approach. So we added wall clocks, wine platters, and other products to our range, all handmade using mainly olive wood and resin (or liquid glass). This cycle surrounds and preserves the classic value of wood and the quality of its processing, while introducing the fresh, the innovative. In application, colour, shape, use. Or, as Nick says:

“…the gradual transformation of the wood is a magical process, for which there is no spell or potion – with the exception of the beeswax of our own production that I use in the waxing. It is a result where the eye, hand and mind co-construct with perseverance and knowledge. The persistent character of the olive, the imposing profile of the ebony, the finesse of the rosewood, not only suggest the personality of each wood, but also your approach to creation. Wood is not just our object, but has rightfully earned a place in our own home. And now, it can earn a place in anyone’s wardrobe or accessory case…”
